Extended DISC FAQs: Commonly Asked Questions about the Extended DISC Personality Test
The Extended Disc, as discussed in our earlier posts, is an increasingly popular form of personality testing and reporting.
It allows businesses and organizations to better understand their people and leverage their inherent strengths and capabilities and use them to assign them appropriate responsibilities.
However, like with all personality tests and reporting tools, the Extended DISC Assessment, too, is open to doubts, questions and uncertainties in the minds of those who want to or have to take it.
Here are some of the common frequently asked questions about the Extended DISC personality test and their answers:
1. How Old Should a Person Be When Taking the Test?
Since the test requires that a person’s personality be fully developed or mature at the time of the test, 18 years is a good age for it to be administered. However, the statements and the questions are designed to be appropriate for those with normal schooling and around 15 years of age.
2. How Can Just 24 Items Generate an Accurate Personality Report?
The key to the Extended Disc personality report or profile does not lie in the questions but in the statistical system that identifies the answering pattern and based on that, whether the results of the test are accurate or note.
The 24 items don’t create the report content. They just create the profile. Knowing the profile allows us to create the report based on how people of a certain profile respond or behave in certain situations.
3. I’ve Heard that the Word Pairing in the Questionnaire is Complex. What if I Can’t Find Appropriate Answers to Some of the Questions?
The Extended Disc test, like most personality tests, is a forced-choice questionnaire. In other words, one shouldn’t overthink an answer but go with instinct and choose a response that suits or describes you the best.
4. By Analyzing my “Work” Personality, How Can a Test Talk About My Natural Style as Well?
By assigning just one “situation”, the test forces you to concentrate when answering the questions. Also, the brain functions at both conscious and unconscious levels so, the “most” answers reflect the conscious style while the “least” answers are used to calculate the unconscious style.
5. Can I Take the Test Twice?
Yes! Especially if there have been significant changes to your environment or your personal life situation.
