NLP

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a methodology which aids in personal development, psychotherapy and communication created in the 1970s. The title signifies a link between the neurological processes or “neuro”, language or “linguistic”, and behavior related patterns that have been gained knowledge of through experience or “programming”. These can be organized to attain explicit goals in life. NLP is also referred to as the study of the edifice of subjectivity.

The creators of NLP, Richard Bandler and John Grinder, reveal that NLP is proficient in addressing problems such as depression, phobias, habit and or learning disorder, psychosomatic illnesses, and many more. Their goal was to find ways to assist people in having a fuller, richer and better life. Grinder and Bandler and argued that if the effectual and successful patterns of behaviour of outstanding people could be sculpted then these patterns could be learned by others with the help of NLP.

NLP MINDSETMAX™ definition

Neuro – It’s about the connect between the input we obtain through the five senses, and the mode in which they get stored in our brain.

Linguistic – It’s about the connect between language and our sensory apparatus and how by the choice of our words we influence our own and other people’s thinking.

Programming- We typically “program” ourselves and via some easy NLP techniques can pick up the art to “re-program” ourselves to a positive state of mind.

Psychotherapeutic

As an approach to psychotherapy, NLP has similar core foundations and assumptions as are with some contemporary universal practices, like solution focused brief therapy. NLP has also been recognized as having swayed these practices with its reframing techniques which helps in achieving behaviour changes by moving its meaning or context, for instance, by finding the positive undertone of a behavior or thought.

It’s two key therapeutic uses are: (1) as an aide for therapists involved in other therapeutic disciplines, and (2) also as a precise therapy called Neurolinguistic Psychotherapy (recognized by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy with accreditation governed at first by the Association for Neuro Linguistic Programming and more recently by its daughter organization the Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy and Counselling Association).

Diversity

While the first objective of neuro linguistic programming was to be therapeutic, the patterns have also been tailored for use outside of psychotherapy and for interpersonal communications together with management training, business communication, sports, sales, and interpersonal influence, utilized for team building, coaching, public speaking, communication and negotiation. A great deal of books have been published associated with the application of NLP for coaching.
