Types of Personality Testing
Personality tests can be broadly divided into two main types – self-report inventory and projective tests.
Self-report inventories include giving a respondent many questions and having them rate or answer each item or question. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory or MMPI is one of the most common self-report inventory-style personality test.
Projective tests are those in which the respondent is presented with a scene, situation or “projection” and then asked to provide their interpretation of it. The Rorschach Inkblot Test is a common projective personality test.
